Hi All!

1 - Status

We have had a number of interesting meetings and phone conversations with a few of the Park District Commissioners and again with a couple of the City Council members.

A number of the Park District Commissioners either were at the September 5th City Council meeting or were watching it on TV.   They certainly understand the interest of the city council and the citizens for the property bounded by Park District land on two sides to be come a complete 13-15 acre park.

There have also been meeting between the city council and the park executives and commissions.

We also have had a number of conversations with Brook McDonald and Dan Lobbes of the Conservation Foundation, the organization that Jim Berg had initially contacted.    They were very helpful and are willing to work with the city and the parks in whatever manner they could.

About a week ago Mr. Lobbes sent, on the behalf of the Conservation Foundation, a letter to Mayor Pradel with a copy to Ms. Barbara Heller, Executive Director of the Park District.   In this letter Mr. Lobbes mentioned the "Buy and Hold" program (up to two years) until monies can be arranged to purchase the land from the Conservation Foundation.    In addition Mr. Lobbes indicated that they were available for a joint meeting with the city and park staff to discuss the options available.

As of this morning there has been no response from either party.

We have had other positive discussions with the DuPage Forest Preserve.

We are starting to make phone calls to see if we can act as a catalyst to get a multi-entity meeting going.

2  -  Ideas for the property as a park.

I have received a few ideas but not as many as I would like.   Please discuss with your kids as to what they think, add your ideas and send me an email.

3  -  Emails to the Park District and the City

A few of you have taken the initiative  and sent emails to the city council and park personnel.

Please consider adding your email to those already sent.   A few sentences about your interest in the subject is all that is needed.

If you do not know any of the members personally consider being an "equal opportunity" emailer and spread the email around.   Of course you can sent the same email to all or split it up per the following, depending on the first letter of your email address.
