Some
information about the $68 Million referendum I recently
mentioned.
I do
not know if the property at 1000 Plainfield /
Naperville
Rd would qualify for acquisition but I believe this
referendum
deserves your support.

In 1997 DuPage County residents passed a
$75 million bond
referendum to protect open space; nearly
1,000 acres were
purchased. We have the opportunity to protect more of our natural
resources by voting for a second forest
preserve open space and
preserve improvement bond referendum on
November the 7th.
For only $3.57 for each $100,000 of home
market value per year,
this $68 million referendum will allow
the forest preserve district to
purchase an additional 500-600 acres of
land and qualify us for
future matching grant funds to protect
even more. Other benefits
include continuing restoration of
wildlife habitats, constructing and
improving trails, recreational areas,
and other public use facilities.
For a home valued at $300,000 that's
.89¢ per month!
Open space provides the opportunity for
everyone to enjoy the
natural beauty of DuPage County through
hiking, biking, fishing,
canoeing, bird watching and a myriad of
other activities. Even if
you don't participate in these
activities, open space works for you by
providing clean air, clean water and
beautiful views.
Protected open space does not raise our
property taxes to support
related infrastructure demands which
means that protected open
space is the ultimate tax cap. Open
space in our county increases the
value of all property.
DuPage County's natural areas cannot be
replaced, only preserved.
Please join us in protecting our natural
assets by voting "yes" for the
DuPage County Forest Preserve open space
and preserve
improvement bond referendum on November
the 7th.
